During Cyclone Ellie 010209

Tropical Cyclone Ellie was a baby in comparison to TC Larry which hit Innisfail in March 2006.  Cyclone Ellie was a complete surprise on the Morning of the 1st February.  The cyclone made landfall about midnight on the 020209 around Mission Beach.  Once it crossed the coast it quickly lost its cyclone status and continued to dump heavy rains in the Ingham area and Townsville on the 030209.

Here are some photos I took of the Strand.  Whilst not a direct hit on Townville, the winds nearer to the coast still packed a punch.

These are snapshots from the Video Camera, (some photos will be blurry).  Thankfully I have only just received the still shot back from repairs now so I can use that instead from now on.
