Welcome to Townsville Storms
30 March 2010: Skycam updates are currently down due to server problems. It has to do with the authentication process whereby the image is being blocked from updating every 15 seconds. I am currently emailing my host provider looking for answers. Update: FTP is backup! Skycam online.
20 March 2010: Townsville dodged a bullet when Cyclone Ului crossed the coastline near Bowen and Proserpine. 4 years to the day since my last chase for Severe Tropical Cyclone Larry, I was at it again chasing Severe Tropical Cyclone Ului. Severe Tropical Cyclone Ului crossed the coast with the eye passing directly over Proserpine in North Qld. Unfortunately Ului crossed the coast at night and when the power went out in places at Bowen, there wasn't much opportunity to take photos or get much video. I also had to drive back to Townsville so my safety was a concern. I should have a video uploaded to Youtube soon. So stay tuned!.
15 March 2010: Hello all weather watchers. Well we've had a pretty dry March so far after what has turned out to be an above average wet season in the north. It is hard to determine what the rest of our monsoon season has in store. All interest has now been focusing on Cyclone Ului out near the Solomon Islands. Computer forecast models are at loggerheads with where and when this cyclone will hit the coast (if at all). Will keep you posted.
30 January 2010: Well Townsville residents, the wet season has been in full swing over the last week or so. We have so far received 467mm on an average of 274mm for January. I have uploaded today's King Tide photos and you can view the under the "Townsville Storms Photo Gallery" section on the menu to the right. This years king tide was at 4.11m, a little less than last year's 4.28m. Boundary Street residents again watched as some yards went under.
24 January 2010: Ex T.C Neville which had been hovering off the F.N.Q coast for days had finally made landfall between Innisfail and Townsville. There had been some high wind gusts observed at the Airport in the afternoon. I have taken photos and some video when I went to the strand. I love the rain, specially when you hear it falling on a tin roof.
05 January 2010: Website was offline due to Server issues. We apologise for this interruption.
