Townsville Storms is a site designed to show locals and visitors to the region what our wet season is capable of.  For the tourists who want to consider coming here, please do so.  Our weather is beautiful and in the summer, having heavy rain is normal. 

Townsville residents are used to "The Big Wet" or Monsoon season which runs from November to April. The Monsoon trough brings with it abundant moisture from Indonesia.  This "North Westerly" flow of air meets the cooler South East trade winds.  This mix of cooler and moist air combines to bring large amounts of rainfall. 

This site is locally owned and operated by Shane Williams.  Shane is an avid storm chaser.  When the opportunity arises he is in the action, he has also been known to chase cyclones like Larry and Ingrid.
